Taxista de Pedales
Era una tarde soleada y ventosa cuando Max, el taxista de pedales, se fue a trabajar. Vivía a once minutos del centro de la ciudad y todos los días de la semana llevaba a los turistas a un recorrido en bicicleta por el parque y el centro de la ciudad.
Sonrió mientras cabalgaba al trabajo. Le gustaba su trabajo ya que podía hacer ejercicio y trabajar al mismo tiempo. Era el mejor taxi a pedales de la ciudad. Ganaba buen dinero y siempre estaba ocupado.
Era muy popular entre las parejas que estaban de vacaciones. Hoy iba rápido en bicicleta y ya estaba cerca del centro de la ciudad, a solo cuatro minutos. Se acercó a una intersección de 4 vías.
De repente, un coche no se detuvo en la señal de alto. El auto pasó justo cuando Max pasó por la intersección.
Se oyó un terrible chirrido de frenos cuando el coche vio el taxi a pedales en el último segundo. ¡Estallido! El coche había golpeado el taxi de pedales y se fue debajo del coche. El sonido llamó la atención de todos y la gente venía corriendo de todas direcciones. Los espectadores vieron el taxi a pedales debajo del auto y buscaron a Max.
No pudieron encontrarlo. Todos estaban desconcertados y preocupados. Algunas personas miraron debajo y alrededor del auto, pero aun así no pudieron ver a Max.
El conductor del automóvil estaba en estado de shock. Se sentó en su coche sin moverse, con las manos todavía en el volante.
La gente no sabía que era el día de suerte de Max. El accidente lo había arrojado por los aires y lejos de la intersección. De alguna manera, había aterrizado de pie, sin magulladuras ni rasguños.
Max regresó al coche. Le dijo a la gente que él era el taxista de pedales. Al principio, nadie le creyó.
Tuvo que decirlo un par de veces antes de que el grupo de personas preocupadas y asustadas le creyera. ¡Estaban asombrados de que él estuviera bien y Max también! Pronto llegó una ambulancia y ellos tampoco podían creer la historia.
El taxi de pedales fue destruido por el automóvil, pero a Max no le importó. ¡Estaba contento de haber sobrevivido!
Pedal Taxi Driver
It was a sunny and breezy afternoon as Max the pedal taxi driver went to work. He lived eleven minutes away from the middle of town and every weekday, he took tourists on a bicycle tour of the park and the downtown area.
He smiled as he rode to work. He liked his job since he could exercise and work at the same time. He was the best pedal taxi in town. He earned good money and was always busy.
He was very popular with couples who were on vacation. Today, he was biking fast and was already close to the center of town, only four minutes away. He approached a 4 way intersection.
Suddenly, a car didn’t stop at the stop sign. The car drove through just as Max went through the intersection.
There was a terrible sound of brakes screeching as the car saw the pedal taxi at the last second. Bang! The car had hit the pedal taxi and it went under the car.
The sound caught everyone’s attention and people came running from all directions. The onlookers saw the pedal taxi under the car and searched for Max.
They couldn’t find him. Everyone was puzzled and worried. Some people looked under and around the car, but still they couldn’t see Max.
The car driver was in shock. He sat in his car without moving, his hands still on the steering wheel.
The people didn’t know it was Max’s lucky day. The accident had thrown him through the air and away from the intersection. Somehow, he had landed on his feet, without any bruises or scratches.
Max walked back to the car. He told people he was the pedal taxi rider. At first, no one believed him.
He had to say it a couple of times before the group of worried and scared people believed him. They were amazed that he was ok and so was Max! Soon, an ambulance arrived and they too couldn’t believe the story.
The pedal taxi was destroyed by the car but Max didn’t care. He was glad to have survived!
